We got a sneak peek this morning on this new collaboration with Jack Ingram, Miranda Lambert, and Jon Randall.
The Marfa Tapes were recorded in Marfa, Texas. All three are songwriters and this project is meant to bring us - the fans closer to the music. When I say closer, I mean sitting by the campfire and them paying acoustic guitars and singing.
There is a lot of songwriting and performance talent in this trio.
Jon Randall has been writing and performing for years and had a record deal in the 90's with RCA Records.
Jack Ingram is a Texas red dirt country mainstay. He's been writing songs for others and has branched out in voice over work and television commercials for Texas grocery chain HEB.
Miranda Lambert has been making great coutry records and touring the planet, although she has publically admitted she has enjoyed the covid respite with hew new husband and former NYPD officer Brendan McLoughlin.
Ingram, Lambert, and Randall set aside some time over the pandemic to write and record "The Marfa Tapes". The records are touted as organic and live. No studio sweetening. Simple recordings made outdoors subject to interuption by barking dogs, a coyote howl, or whatever nature brings their way in Marfa, Texas.
This morning the first track dropped in the form of a youtube video, and as promised the song is intimate and simple.
Until it's all released, we will have this to enjoy. "In His Arms" is the first release from "The Marfa Tapes".
