I hope everyone is healthy and hanging in there. Before I get started. I wanted to say thanks for listening and supporting Alpine's non-profit community radio station.

Things have been crazy with the pending relocation of our broadcast antenna. We are waiting for approval from both the Federal Communications Comission and the Government of Mexico. You can follow that saga here. We thank all of you that have downloaded the iHeart Radio app and listened online. More details o

SANDAG proposes vehicle mileage tax

Living in the back country of San Diego County certainly has its advantages. I don't know about you but when the subject of living in Alpine comes up with somebeody who lives in San Diego you'll normally hear "that's so far away". When I hear that I'm normally smiling inside and thinking "just far enough".

This morning we received email from the ALPINE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE forwarding information from the SAN DIEGO BUSINESS COALITION. It's information that should concern all

Alpine speaks up in support of Fred's

There was supposed to be a meeting last night, but it was cancelled because the agenda hadn't been posted with proper notice time. Alpinians were on site and ready to meet, but they will have to gather again on October 4th, 2021.

This meeting had been discussed on social media for the last few weeks. The subject? A Alpine burger stand being replaced by "Jack In The Box". To say this subject is heating up the kitchen of our community is an understatement.

William Beckmann IS taking country back!!

by: CHRISTOPHER TORRICK

One of the really cool things I get to do with my job is listen to all the cool (and sometimes uncool) music coming out and try to decide what our listeners will appreciate.

One theme that seems to run rampant in country songs as of late is "I'm taking country back". To me taking that sort of stance comes with a responsibility.

Here's my take. I can walk up and down Alpine Boulevard with my black English Lab dog "Wall-e" all day long and tell everyone I see that my dog is a

IMPORTANT NOTICE

Changes are coming to Mountain Country 107.9, and we NEED your help.

The property where our antenna is currently located will be sold in the next few months and it will be necessary for us to relocate.

An antenna move isn't an easy task. It requires the help of both local and consulting engineers and lawyers to help us navigate the strict rules from the FCC.

One of our biggest hurdles was finding a new long term location. Thankfully that has been taken care of.

The new locati

We make it a point to stay out of politics and legislation, but we know that we have many listeners that attend charter schools. We felt like it was necessary to make you aware of a possible bill that could change your child's school situation.

AB 1316 will be heard by the Assembly Education Committee beginning this week, and goes for a vote on April 28th.

Any questions or concerns Alpine residents have with this piece of legislation can contact Assemblyman Randy Voepel at

Cody Jinks Adobe Sessions Vinyl Review

by: CHRISTOPHER TORRICK

Hey Friends -

I have been trying to focus on new vinyl releases here but I have to be honest, trying to get my hands on a copy of Cody Jinks "Adobe Sessions" for a while. It seems like as soon as there is another load of pressings, they are gone the minute they hit retail.

It came up on my radar that this record was taking advance orders on Amazon, and decided to get in the pile. I thought I was buying a plain black `180 gram vinyl 2 disc set with a gatefold sleeve.

Alpine Park Controversy

by: CHRISTOPHER TORRICK

03/25/2021

A storm is brewing over plans to build a county park in Alpine.

If this is new information to you, here is the Reader's Digest version of what's happening, A plot of land adjacent to Wright's Field which has been undeveloped was purchased from developers by the county to build a county park.

Initally when the story broke there was confusion about the transaction. "Wright's Field is being sold" was splashed about on social media channels. The land in question was never owned

Disneyland re-opens on April 30th 2021 and things are already heating up.

For some one of the signs of normalcy in a post covid19 world would be the reopening of The Disneyland Resort in Anaheim.

Under the state of California guidelines, the parks will be limited to 15% capacity and be limited to California residents. Percentages will rise as Orange County's tier changes, but admissions will be limited. Here is what we have learned so far.

RESERVATIONS WILL BE REQUIRED

The Marfa Tapes

We got a sneak peek this morning on this new collaboration with Jack Ingram, Miranda Lambert, and Jon Randall.

The Marfa Tapes were recorded in Marfa, Texas. All three are songwriters and this project is meant to bring us - the fans closer to the music. When I say closer, I mean sitting by the campfire and them paying acoustic guitars and singing.

There is a lot of songwriting and performance talent in this trio.

Jon Randall has been writing and performing for years and had

Aaron Watson American Soul Vinyl Record Review

by: CHRISTOPHER TORRICK

Whenever we see one of the new releases come out on vinyl, we get a little excited around here. Vinyl record sales have been going up over the last few years and covid-19 ignited the renaissance. Electronic outlets reported an uptick in turntable sales and vinyl manufacturers have moved to 24/7 production to keep up with the demand. The resurgance isn't unique to older demographics. Whenever I mention heading to Lou's Records in Encinitas, my 14 year old daughter Aubrey is

Will there be a Lakeside Rodeo in 2021?

by: CHRISTOPHER TORRICK

02/23/2021

One of the big questions we have had is will there be a rodeo in 2021. Many were heartbroken to see the 2020 rodeo cancelled due to the pandemic. We had already gotten notification that the 2021 San DIego County Fair had cancelled all of the entertainment contracts, and the Stagecoach music festival had cancelled for 2021. What about the rodeo?

As of today (2/23), the plan is to have a rodeo this year. Normally the rodeo is held the last weekend of March. This year it is sc
