Alpine's non-profit community radio station will be leading a caravan to get much needed supplies to those hurting and homeless from the flooding.

Shelters are doing what they can but they are requesting outside support.

The difference between Katrina and this storm is night and day. With Katrina we were able to get some supplies in Louisiana. Our group worked with the Dream Center in Donaldsonville, LA which was one of the first dry spots people leaving New Orleans could find. You had retail, restaurants and such open. Many people donated gift cards and we were able to hand those out to people in need that had nothing.

This is much different than Katrina. Both homes and retail are suffering. People can't go home. Can't go to work. Can't go to school.

Our needs will be MANY to get this done. We are in the process of negotiating the best possible rates for truck rentals and getting our drivers together. We will need cash for expenses while traveling, Fuel, meals and possibly hotels. Donations can be made on our website by clicking this donate button if you would like to help with the expenses of getting these supplies out to Louisiana. We would like to have as many full trucks on the road as we can afford. Your monetary donations will make that possible. The donate button is at the top of the page.

The supply needs will be massive. Many are without some of the most basic things that we take for granted. That is where we hope to help and fill needs.

So, let's get started with supplies. If you would like to purchase any of these supplies and bring them to the radio station, we will get them to those that need them. I know that some of these instructions may be daunting, but please understand to make things easier for distribution we need you to help us. Please do not donate anything that is used, open, damaged or past it's shelf life date.

The flood victims need these items:

Diapers - complete sealed by MFR boxes or packages. All sizes will be needed.
